Frequently asked questions
How is business loan EMI calculated?
EMI = P × r × (1+r)^n / ((1+r)^n − 1), where P is the loan amount, r is the monthly rate (annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100) and n is the number of instalments. This calculator uses exactly that formula.
Why does an overdraft or cash credit show no EMI?
OD and CC are revolving limits. You pay interest only on the balance actually utilised, and the principal stays available. The calculator therefore shows monthly and yearly interest cost at your average utilisation instead of an EMI.
Why is the LAP EMI lower for the same amount?
Loan against property is secured, so the rate is typically 9%–12.5% and the tenure can run to 15–20 years. Both reduce the EMI per lakh compared with an unsecured business loan.
What EMI can my business afford?
Most lenders want total EMI obligations under 50%–60% of monthly cash profit as evidenced by bank statements. If the EMI crosses that, extend the tenure or shift part of the need to an OD/CC limit.
